Most environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidance is provided by program management. This includes guidance on matters such as compliance, audit, and management systems, for example, ISO 14,001. There is little guidance provided for day-to-day EHS activities. Learning is usually by trial and error. There is general uncertainty if things are being done correctly or perhaps not. If you are trying to anticipate what needs to be done next and hope you did not leave anything out you are not alone.
The manual that you will develop and implement from this webinar is designed for day-to-day use at a facility. The manual will take away the uncertainty and provide confidence. The first question that should be asked is, “Do we really need such a manual?” You may have operated without such a manual for years so why now do you need a manual and why is it important? It is a very big deal for many reasons. You are probably operating at lower efficiency than you could with a manual. If the person responsible for EHS at your facility were to leave for any reason how would you ensure continued EHS compliance and operating efficiency? The manual is designed to provide the confidence for continued compliant and effective operations in the absence, short or long-term, of key EHS employees.

Who Should Attend
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) people working at plants, EHS managers, directors, and Vice Presidents of environmental health and safety will all benefit from attending this webinar
Why Should You Attend
If you could have a simple short and to-the-point document on how to manage day-to-day EHS activities your life would be much easier, and your confidence that all that needs to be done is being done will increase. The manual is divided into sections such as administrative requirements, legislative and regulatory requirements, monitoring, operations and maintenance, crisis management, and training. These are all key to managing EHS activities. Any and everyone involved with the EHS activity will learn and benefit from this webinar.
Topic Background
The following is an example of how the manual will work for you.
The individual responsible for EHS is at a conference and senior management wishes to put a new product into your facility. Senior management is asking if your existing environmental permits to operate will allow for the new product to be manufactured at your facility? To find the answer you go to the operations and maintenance section of the manual where you will easily find the section on air, water, and waste permits in place at your facility. The operations and maintenance section will identify the appendix for each operating permit. Further, the appendices will identify where the permit may be found within your facility. With the permits in hand, you can identify the limits for air emissions, water discharges, and waste generation, assuming you have such permits. As a result, you can answer senior management questions. Without the manual giving guidance and with the responsible EHS person at a conference it is unlikely that the question would be answered quickly, and might require the EHS person to leave the conference and return to the plant.
